Beard Transplant

Beard transplantation is a hair transplant procedure applied to men who have thinning or beard loss in the beard area. This procedure is performed in a similar way to hair transplantation techniques and generally uses hair follicles from the nape or back of the head. It is a preferred method especially for those who want to achieve an aesthetic appearance in the beard area.

Beard Transplant Stages:

1. Consulting and Planning: First, the doctor examines the beard area and determines the number of roots needed. A personalized plan is made by taking into account the natural appearance of the beard and the width of the area to be planted.

2. Extracting Roots from the Donor Area: Hair roots are usually taken one by one from the nape area with the FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) method. These roots are prepared to be transplanted to the beard area.

3. Channel Opening: Thin channels are opened in the beard area where the extracted hair follicles will be placed. The angle, depth and frequency of these channels are critical for a natural beard appearance.

4. Planting the Roots: During beard transplantation, each root is placed one by one into the previously opened channels. The most important factor to consider at this stage is to plant the beard in accordance with its natural growth direction.

5. Healing Process: After the transplant, slight redness and crusting may be seen on the skin. These symptoms pass in about 1-2 weeks and the transplanted beard begins to adapt to its new location. It may take a few months for the results to fully settle.

Advantages of Beard Transplant:

  • Natural Look: Since the person's own hair follicles are used, the results look natural.

  • Permanent Solution: Beard transplantation is a permanent solution and the transplanted roots do not fall out.

  • Personalized Planning: Beard density and shape are planned specifically for the individual.

Disadvantages of Beard Transplant:

  • A Long-Term Procedure: Beard transplantation is a time-consuming procedure as the hair follicles need to be placed one by one.

  • Cost: Similar to a hair transplant, a beard transplant can also be costly.

Beard transplantation offers an aesthetic and permanent solution, especially in cases where the natural structure of the beard is damaged due to reasons such as beard thinning and scarring.
